Tomáš Holub (born August 16, 1967 in Jaroměř , Okres Náchod , Czechoslovakia ) is a Czech clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Pilsen .

Life

Tomáš Holub received the sacrament of ordination for the diocese of Königgrätz on August 28, 1993 .

After three years as a chaplain in Kutna Hora it from 1996 to 2006, the first and later a senior military chaplain of the Czech Army . From 2007 to 2008 he studied at the Pontifical Lateran University in Rome. With a thesis on the ethical aspects of the fight against terrorism in the light of the doctrine of the so-called Just War , he then obtained a degree in moral theology at the Catholic Faculty of Charles University in Prague . From 2008 to 2010 he was vicar general of the diocese of Königgrätz. Since July 1, 2011, he has been Secretary General of the Czech Bishops' Conference and Dean of the Collegiate Monastery of St. Peter and Paul on Vyšehrad in Prague .

Bishop of Pilsen

On February 12, 2016, Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Pilsen. The  Archbishop of Prague , Dominik Cardinal Duka , donated him the episcopal ordination on April 30th of the same year in St. Bartholomew's Cathedral. Co- consecrators were the emeritus bishop of Pilsen, František Radkovský , and the bishop of Regensburg , Rudolf Voderholzer .
