Tom Bruno (musician)

Tom Bruno (born April 14, 1932 in Canada - † August 22, 2012 in Manhattan , New York City ) was an American jazz musician ( drums , percussion , vocals , flute ).

Tom Bruno, who from the mid-1970s frequently played as a street musician and in subway stations (between Sixth and Astor Place), participated in 13 recording sessions from 1976 to 1998. During his career he worked in the New York free jazz scene a. a. with Cecil Taylor , Ellen Christi ( Live at Irving Plaza , Soul Note 1985) and at the New York City Artist's Collective . He was a founding member of the Test formation , which also included Daniel Carter , Sabir Mateen and Matt Heyner . In 1981 he made his solo album White Boy Blues .
