Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands is an open world tactical game developed by Ubisoft Paris . It is the tenth game in the Ghost Recon series and the first Ghost Recon that can be played in an open world. Ubisoft introduced the game in June 2015 at the Electronic Entertainment Expo . The game was released on March 7, 2017. A closed beta took place in advance from February 3 to 6, 2017. An open beta took place from February 23 to 27, 2017.

Ghost Recon Wildlands is set in Bolivia , a landlocked country in South America . Four ghosts , members of a special military unit , take action against the Santa Blanca drug cartel . The head of the smuggling trade , the ice-cold gangster La Reina de la Belleza , is one of the main opponents of the special unit. The head of the cartel is El Sueño , who has risen from contract killer to leader of the cartel.
In single and multiplayer with up to four players, the so-called ghosts can explore the vast world in Wildlands, the focus is on scouting out places and collecting information about the powerful drug boss El Sueño, who over time almost all of Bolivia under his control brought. El Sueño is supported by several so-called Buchons, who report to an intermediate boss who in turn reports to a head of the respective department. There are four departments in total, divided into Smuggling, Influence, Security and Production. The aim of Ghost Recon Wildlands is to smash all departments and thus put an end to the reign of terror in El Sueño. Here the player is supported by rebels . For a successful conclusion it is enough to defeat two of the four departments.
Gameplay
The open world of Wildlands presents players with many options. Missions can be mastered in several ways, from snipers to brutal storms, all possibilities are feasible. The missions can be chosen by yourself, there is no predetermined storyline. In Wildlands , weapon modifications are possible at any time so that you can adapt to the missions. So all weapons can be dismantled individually and put together in different ways. There are over 100 attachments for weapons in the game, so over 10,000 combinations are possible. The engine also enables the dynamic pollution system. So clothes get soiled in the course of the missions depending on the terrain. Exotic weapons that cannot be bought anywhere can also be found. The ghosts , i.e. your own game characters, can be customized. There is also the option to choose between female and male soldiers.

Sequel
A narrative sequel to Wildlands was released on October 4, 2019 under the name Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Breakpoint .
