Tom Fawcett (born October 18, 1995 in Skokie , Illinois ) is an American tennis player .

Career

Fawcett played first tennis tournaments from 2013. In 2013 and 2014 he got wild cards for the Challenger tournament in Winnetka, near his home in Illinois. In 2014 he was placed in the world rankings for the first time . In the same year Fawcett began studying at Stanford University , where he also played college tennis and was therefore only able to take part in a few other tournaments during this time. During this time he played a few futures , among other things , but never reached a semi-final or a few Challengers, where he surprised in Tiburon with the win against the top 100 player Ruben Bemelmans , but otherwise mostly eliminated in the first round. In 2018 he completed his studies with a major in Science, Technology & Society . His record in college tennis was 53:23 matches.

In 2018, the American reached his first semifinals and finals in futures and was able to win the latter, advancing to number 524 in the world rankings and reaching his previous career high. For the Grand Slam tournament in New York , he then received a wildcard for the individual qualification. Here he was defeated by Alexei Watutin in three sets. In addition, he also played in mixed competition thanks to a wild card with Danielle Collins . They lost their first match in the match tie breaker .
