Tom Müller (saxophonist)

Tom Müller ( Thomas Müller ; born December 13, 1969 in Lahr / Black Forest ) is a German R&B and jazz saxophonist who lives in Vienna and also performs as Tom Mueller .

Career

Mueller grew up in Lahr. First he played the clarinet in the local music association. In 1985, inspired by the discovery of several big band and rock'n'roll records in his father's record collection, he switched to the saxophone and played in local bands. In 1986/1987 he lived in Belleville, Ontario for a year , where he played in various school bands and school big bands.

From 1991 he studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz and later also at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna jazz saxophone with Carl Drewo and Martin Fuß, among others . During this time he had the opportunity to perform with jazz musicians such as Clark Terry , Benny Bailey and Chuck Israels .

Müller moved to Vienna in 1997. In addition to his work as a music teacher, he was involved in various projects and a. Raumfisch, Rens Newland ’s Freedom Street Parade, Urbs (G-Stone Records), D.kay , Betty Semper and The Surfing Zebras. In 2007 Müller began working with Dana Gillespie and Joachim Palden. This was followed by performances and CD recordings as a saxophonist and arranger with representatives of the European blues and the boogie-woogie scene.
