Tom-Sengua Malutedi (born December 10, 1996 in Duisburg ) is a German para-athlete.

Life

Malutedi lives in Oberhausen and is of Congolese origin. He was born with two legs of different lengths: the one on the left is three inches shorter than the one on the right. He was enthusiastic about sports from childhood; initially he played football and had an offer from Rot-Weiß Oberhausen ; for fear of a broken leg, however, he stopped playing football. He then turned to boxing in order to emulate his role model, European champion Abass Baraou . Malutedi boxed for the club Ringfrei Oberhausen , later for the BT Hanse Wismar in the Bundesliga. After a breakdown in the ring, he gave up boxing on the advice of doctors and turned to athletics .

In May 2017, he started intensive athletics training. In July he was nominated after Felix Streng's injury-related failure for the 4 x 100 meter relay at the World Athletics Championships for the disabled in London . The team won the gold medal after the US team was disqualified.

Together with Johannes Floors , Markus Rehm and Léon Schäfer, Malutedi was named Disabled Sports Team of the Year 2017.

In 2019 Tom Malutedi was qualified to participate in the World Athletics Championships in Dubai , but could not start for health reasons.
