Tom McEwan (born August 9, 1940 in Corby , England ) is a British - Danish musician , drummer and self - taught actor .

biography

His father was a Scot and worked as a welder in Glasgow . The family later moved to the English industrial town of Corby , where Tom McEwan was born and raised. After completing his school education, he trained as a teacher at a technical college in Leicester . He later got a job as a teacher in Denmark and taught from 1968 to 1974 at Hareskovens Lilleskole in Hareskovby near Copenhagen . He also worked as a drummer in various English and Danish music groups and bandsWith. He had his breakthrough in the Danish rock band Culpeper’s Orchard . Tom McEwan also appeared in the band Klyderne in the early 1970s , where he met the musicians and actors Jesper Klein and Jess Ingerslev and with them founded the musical comic trio Avocets in 1974 .

He has appeared as an actor in a wide range of different roles in Danish film and television productions and in programs for children. He had his most famous appearances in the series Bryggeren , in the Christmas series Torvet , Nissebanden i Grønland and in Jul i Juleland . As a voice actor, he also worked in a few cartoons. McEwan also appeared in the Olsen Gang film series , for example in The Olsen Gang flies over the plank from 1981 as a taxi driver and in The Olsen Gang Rises on the Roof from 1978 as a boutique owner.

In 1990 he was awarded the Robert Film Prize in the Best Supporting Actor category for his appearance in the film Århus by Night .

Personal

McEwan became a Danish citizen in the mid-1990s and has been a practicing Buddhist for some time . He is married to the actress Terese Damsholt and they have two sons, Tim and Oliver McEwan , who are both musicians.
