Tomaž Globočnik
Tomaž Globočnik (born April 17, 1972 in Kranj ) is a former Slovenian biathlete .
Tomaž Globočnik is a trainer for the Slovenian police. In 1988 he started cross-country skiing . Six years later he switched to biathlon. Globočnik starts for TSK Triglav Kranj . In 1994 he made his debut in Bad Gastein in the Biathlon World Cup . After a 49th place in the individual, he finished eighth in the sprint in his second race and thus won World Cup points for the first time. Globočnik started in Antholz for the first time at the biathlon world championships . Since the 1997/98 season he has belonged to the extended world elite of biathlon for seven years. He regularly achieved good placements in individual races, including quite a few placements in the top ten. The Slovenian’s best season was 2000/01 , which he finished 14th overall.
Globočnik best world championships he played in 2001 in Pokljuka . Here he was 18th in the sprint, eighth in the pursuit and 13th in the mass start. Two years later , he finished fifth in the singles of Khanty-Mansiysk, his best placement at the world championships. In 1998 and 2002 Globočnik started at the Winter Olympics and regularly achieved good placements. In Nagano he was eleventh in singles, four years later in Salt Lake City he was 18th in singles, 23rd in sprint and 19th in pursuit. In 2003 he ended his career after the World Championships.
