Tomas Locatelli (born June 9, 1976 in Bergamo ) is an Italian football player who has been under contract with AC Mantova since 2008 .

Career

Tomas Locatelli started his career in his hometown with Atalanta Bergamo . There he received his first appearances in Serie A in the 1993/94 season and rose to the second highest division with the club at the end of the season. After a season in Serie B , he succeeded in direct recovery with the team and Locatelli signed with AC Milan in the summer of 1995 . The striker could never prevail in Milan against the competition in attack consisting of George Weah , Roberto Baggio and Paolo Di Canio . He completed only five league games in the 1995/96 season and won the Scudetto with the team . In January 1997 the club finally sold him to league rivals Udinese Calcio .

In twelve league games up to the end of the 1996/97 season he failed to score, Udinese still qualified fifth thanks to goals from Paolo Poggi and Oliver Bierhoff for the UEFA Cup . It succeeded after a success against the Polish representative Widzew Łódź the entry into the second round, Udinese failed there due to the away goals rule against Ajax Amsterdam and was thus eliminated from the competition. In the following three years Locatelli qualified with the club for a European club competition, but the attacker could still not convince and did not appear regularly as a goal scorer. In the summer of 2000 he was signed by FC Bologna . In his first season with Bologna, he scored five goals in 30 league games and placed the team in tenth place in the table. After relegation was secured in the following three years, he rose with the club after the 2004/05 season in the second highest division.

He then left the club and joined AC Siena . With the Tuscans he was one of the top performers and was able to secure a regular place there. After spending three years in Siena, the offensive player moved to the second division AC Mantova . He fought with the team for a long time to maintain the league and was only able to secure this on the last day of the 2008/09 season when the team remained one point above the relegation ranks.

National team

Locatelli went through various Italian junior selections and also completed ten games for the Italian U-21 selection from 1994 to 1997 . He made his debut on November 13, 1999 for the Italian national team . In the international match against Belgium he ran in the 78th minute as a substitute for Francesco Totti on the field, the Squadra Azzurra lost 3-1 against the Belgian selection. Also in his second appearance on February 23, 2000, he ran as a substitute on the field and won the game against Sweden 1-0.
