Tomasz Kucz (born July 6, 1999 in Warsaw ) is a Polish football player . He comes from the youth of two Warsaw clubs and a German club. In his men's career so far he has played in Germany and Slovakia . He currently plays for the second team of the Portuguese club Vitória Guimarães in the third-class Campeonato Nacional de Seniores .

Career

Tomasz Kucz began his career as a defender when he was six or seven years old. When he was accepted into the youth of Drukarz Warsaw , his team had no goalkeeper, which put him in this position. After five years he moved to Polonia Warsaw . In 2015 he was signed by the German Bundesliga club Bayer 04 Leverkusen for their youth. Kucz was finally included in the first team's squad for the 2018/19 season , where he was designated as the fourth goalkeeper. Due to the injuries of Lukáš Hrádecký and Thorsten Kirschbaum , he was appointed to the squad for the first Bundesliga game of the season against Borussia Mönchengladbach on August 25, 2018 as a substitute goalkeeper for Ramazan Özcan . In the 2-0 away defeat, he was not used. Due to the recovery of the other two goalkeepers in the following period, Kucz was no longer considered in the remaining competitive games of the first half of the season.

On January 23, 2019, Bayer 04 Leverkusen and Slovak first division club DAC Dunajská Streda agreed on a loan deal for Kucz until the middle of the year. There he met head coach Peter Hyballa , who had already trained Kucz from 2015 to 2016 during his time in the Leverkusen A-Youth. After his engagement, Kucz took over the position of the team's first substitute goalkeeper and was always in the club's matchday squad. On May 11, he played his first competitive game in the men's area in the 3-4 home defeat in the championship play-offs against SKF Sered . He was called up in the starting lineup and used throughout the game. He conceded three goals in the first half and one in the second half.

On July 31, 2019, Kucz's contract with Bayer 04 Leverkusen was terminated by mutual agreement. After being out of a club for over a month, he signed a contract with the Portuguese club Vitória Guimarães in early September, which will run until mid-2022 . Kucz is used there for the second team in the third-class Campeonato Nacional de Seniores .

Kucz was born in 1999 in the Polish capital Warsaw . He has a sister. His father is a soldier in the Polish Armed Forces . In addition to Polish , Kucz also speaks German and English and has a basic knowledge of Slovak .
