Tomasz Lis
Tomasz Rafał Lis (born March 6, 1966 in Zielona Góra , Poland ) is a Polish political journalist .
Life
After graduating from high school, Lis studied journalism at the University of Warsaw . While still a fourth-year student, he won an open competition for television journalists on state television, TVP . On May 3, 1990, he made his debut as the presenter of the daily evening journal Wiadomości ( news ). Soon he was promoted to the first parliamentary reporter. In 1992 he studied at the private Loyola University in New Orleans . From 1994 to 1997 he was a rapporteur for Polish National Television in the United States .
From 1997 to 2004 he hosted the news program Fakty ( facts ) on the private television broadcaster TVN . In 2003 he published the book “ Co z tą Polską? "(" What's wrong with Poland? ") With a print run of over 100,000 copies. After the success of the book, he was traded as a presidential candidate.
In 2005 he became a board member and program director of the private television station Polsat . It ran the news program Wydarzenia ( Events ) with journalist Hanna Smoktunowicz . For unknown reasons, however, he left Polsat in 2007 and was hired shortly afterwards in November of the same year as an advisor to the board of the Edipresse Polska magazine publisher .
In 2008 he returned to TVP and moderated the Tomasz Lis na Żywo ( Tomasz Lis live ) panel on the second program of the state television until January 25, 2016 . When the termination of the show became known at the end of January 2016, he said goodbye with an open letter in which he protested the newly enacted media law .
In 2010 he also became editor-in-chief of the weekly news magazine Wprost , but had to vacate the post after disputes with the publishers in 2012. Only a few weeks later he became editor-in-chief of the competing news magazine Newsweek Polska .
Every Friday he takes part in the morning broadcast of the national radio station Tok FM .
Awards
He has received several important Polish media awards for his versatile work. He was awarded the Wiktor ten times , including the Super Wiktor in 2006. In 1999, 2007 and 2009 he was also named “Journalist of the Year”, and in 2002 and 2005 he also received the telecamera .

In 1994 Lis married the journalist Kinga Rusin. The marriage was divorced in 2006. He has been married to TV presenter and colleague Hanna Smoktunowicz since 2007.
