Tommy Tabermann (born December 3, 1947 in Ekenäs , † July 2, 2010 in Helsinki ) was a Finnish-Swedish writer , poet , musician and politician .

biography

After attending school, he studied journalism at the University of Tampere and then worked from 1969 to 1979 as an editor at the public broadcaster Yleisradio . After working as a journalist for daily newspapers and radio stations, he was a scriptwriter for the television station YLE TV2 and wrote around 300 scripts for its program between the beginning of 1998 and the end of 2006 .

He began his writing career in 1970 with Ruusuja Rosa Luxemburgille , his poetry debut . In the period that followed, a new book was mostly published annually by him, in particular anthologies on the subject of love and eroticism , as well as music albums of his works. Between 1998 and 2007 he became known to a nationwide audience as the team boss in the game show Uutisvuoto , which is broadcast on the television station Yleisradio TV 1.

In 2007 he was elected as a candidate for the Social Democratic Party of Finland ( Suomen sosialidemokraattinen puolue ) as a member of the Finnish Parliament ( Eduskunta ).

In the fall of 2009 he was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor from which he ultimately died.

The publication of his last volume of poetry, Amen, and his autobiography are planned for autumn 2010 .
