The Tongruben nature reserve near Binsfeld is located in the Bernkastel-Wittlich district in Rhineland-Palatinate .
The approximately 17.5 hectare area, which was placed under nature protection in 1985 , extends southwest of the local community of Binsfeld . The L 39 state road runs along the eastern edge of the area and the B 50 not far to the west .
The protection purpose is the preservation of still waters with their adjoining transition areas as secondary biotopes for rare animal and plant communities that are threatened in their existence .
