The nature reserve Hangbrücher near Morbach is the largest nature reserve in the district of Bernkastel-Wittlich in Rhineland-Palatinate .

The approximately 740 hectare area, which was placed under nature protection in 1985 , extends northeast of the core town of the municipality of Morbach . On the northeastern edge of the area runs the state road L 159 and on the southern edge the L 160, to the west runs the B 327 .

The purpose of protection is conservation

  • the northwestern roof of the Idarwald as a large-scale biotope network system ,
  • the slope and spring breaks as a habitat of rare, threatened, nutrient-poor, moisture-loving animal and plant species and communities,
  • old hardwood stands as closing societies, the rare, endangered animal and plant species, especially bats , birds and insects serve as a habitat.
