Toon Verhoef (born October 17, 1946 in Voorburg , South Holland Province ) is a Dutch painter.

life and work

Toon Verhoef lived in Buenos Aires from 1957 to 1963 . From 1963 to 1965 he studied at Atlantic College in Wales and completed a year at the Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten in Amsterdam. After a stay in Johannesburg and a study of art history at the University of South Africa , he was accepted at Ateliers 63 in Haarlem , where he worked as a student until 1970 and was a lecturer between 1975 and 2003. From 1981 to 1986 he taught at the Academie Minerva in Groningen and from 2009 to 2014 he was appointed professor at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe .

Toon Verhoef has been known for large-format, abstract paintings for many years.
