The Tor class is a class of coasters operated by the Erwin Strahlmann shipping company in Brunsbüttel . The four units of the class were built between 1988 and 1990 at Portuguese shipyards for the shipping company Portline Transportes Maritimos Internacionais from Lisbon. The first three ships were built at the Estaleiros Navais de Viana do Castelo shipyard in Viana do Castelo , the fourth ship at the Estaleiros Navais do Mondego shipyard in Figueira da Foz . The ships are part of a larger series of this type of construction that was built at the two shipyards for various shipping companies.

The ships are powered by a diesel engine from MAN B&W (type: 8L23 / 30) with an output of 1,080 kW . The motor acts on a controllable pitch propeller via a reduction gear . For electricity generation are two Cummins - Generators (type: 6CT8.3G) kW with 120 power and a wave generator with 215 kW power. In addition, a port and emergency generator from Cummins (type: 6BT5.9G) was installed. The ships are equipped with an electrically operated bow thruster .
The deckhouse is aft. The hold is in front of the deckhouse . The hatch and hold are 57.40 m long and 10.20 m wide. The height of the room is around 8 m. Except for the front area, where it tapers to a length of 11 m to 5.10 m, the cargo space is box-shaped. It is 4,530 m³ and is closed with hydraulically operated folding hatch covers.
The ships are equipped with two bulkheads . The tank top can be loaded with 10 t / m², the hatch cover with 1.5 t / m².
The two masts can be folded under bridges.
