Torgny Lindgren (2007)

Torgny Lindgren [ ˌtɔɹːgny ˈlɪndgreːn ] (born June 16, 1938 in Raggsjö, Norsjö ; † March 16, 2017 in Rimforsa ) was a Swedish writer .

He made his debut in 1965 as a lyric poet with Plåtsax, hjärtats instrument ("tin snips , instrument of the heart"). In 1970 the poetry collection Dikter från Vimmerby ("Poems from Vimmerby ") was published. However, he achieved his breakthrough with novels. Torgny Lindgren had been a member of the Swedish Academy since 1991 (chair 9).

Life

Torgny Lindgren was born in 1938 to Andreas Lindgren and Helga Björk.

Lindgren left his home early and moved to Småland , where he worked as a teacher. In the early 1970s he joined the Swedish Social Democratic Labor Party , where he was critically involved. In 1971 his argument with the Swedish social democracy appeared Hur skulle det vara om man vore Olof Palme? (German: "How about being Olof Palme ?").

In the following years he wrote a series of satires on politics and school education. They appeared in the collection Skolbagateller medan jag försökte skriva till mina överordnade . His first novel Övriga frågor (German: "Some other shops") was published in 1973, followed two years later in 1975 Hallen (German: "Die Halle"). His first big success came in 1982 with Ormens väg på hälleberget , German: The way of the snake .

The historic times he went in 1984 with the novel Bathsheba , the biblical story of Bathsheba discussed and King David. With this book he also became known in Germany.

His novel Ormens väg på hälleberget was filmed by Bo Widerberg .
