Distance and result
The drivers completed a 31-kilometer circuit, which had to be driven six times (total distance: 186 km) in the former Kazakh capital. The start and finish lines were at the Nurlytau Business Center. Towards the end of each lap, there was an approximately five-kilometer ascent on the program, with two hundred meters of altitude to be overcome. From the five-man breakaway group of the day with Vitaly Buz ( Kolss Cycling Team ), Julien Antomarchi ( La Pomme Marseille ), Vitaly Popkow ( ISD Continental Team ) and his teammate Alexei Lutsenko , Maxim Iglinski was able to break away from the Kazakh national team on the last lap and up to claim a lead of thirty seconds over the remaining peloton, which had caught up with his fellow escapees shortly before the finish.
