Tears from Kajal is a song by the German pop singer and rapper Celine . The piece is after What are you doing there? and for me the third single release in Celine's career.

Creation and artwork

Tears from Kajal was written by Celine herself - under her real name "Céline Dorka" - together with the co-authors Jan Platt, Yanek Stark and the producer quartet Beatgees (consisting of: Philip Böllhoff, Hannes Büscher, Sipho Sililo and David Vogt ). The production was carried out by the Berlin producer team Beatgees. The mastering was done by the Stuttgart sound engineer Gökhan Güler. For the instrumentation , among others, who was German rapper M.IKI the strings responsible.

On the front cover of the single you can see - next to artist name and song title - Celine in the back seat of a car. She wears a turquoise bomber jacket , a black baseball cap and a headscarf over it . The photography comes from the work on the accompanying music video.

Publication and promotion

The first publication of tears eyeliner done as downloading and streaming on April 3, 2020. The release was made as a single track by the music labels A Million, BTGS and Groove Attack . The song was published by Beatgees Publishing and BMG Rights Management . To promote the song, Celine uploaded two screenshots from the music video on her social media for the first time on March 30, 2020 . She published the pictures with the words “04/03/2020”.

The lyrics to Tears from Kajal are written in German . The music and the text were written and composed jointly by the production team Beatgees, Céline, Jan Platt and Yanek Starke. Musically, the song moves in the realm of hip-hop and rap . The tempo is 170 beats per minute . The key is C minor . In terms of content, Tears from Kajal is a rap ballad about the pain of separation . It's about grief, the worry of not knowing what to do next, and sleepless nights.

In the German-language single charts , the single reached position eight, in the German streaming charts position 16 and in the German download charts position 82.Furthermore, the single was placed in the German iTunes daily evaluations for several weeks and reached position 42, its highest chart listing on 7. April 2020. In Austria , Tears from Kajal reached its highest chart price at position 51 and was in the charts for eight weeks.

For Celine as a writer and performer, Tears from Kajal is the second chart success in the German single charts and the first in Austria after Für mich . The Beatgees reached the charts in Germany for the 25th time and for the 15th time in Austria in their writing or producing activities.
