Trahweiler is one of two districts of the local community Henschtal in the district of Kusel in Rhineland-Palatinate . Until 1969 it was an independent community.

location

Trahweiler is located in the North Palatinate Bergland in the northwestern municipality and extends along the left bank of the Henschbach ; Haschbach extends on the opposite side, to which there is otherwise no spatial separation. The northwestern residential area Sangerhof also belongs to Trahweiler.

history

In the 14th century, Trahweiler first belonged to the County of Veldenz and later to Pfalz-Zweibrücken .

From 1798 to 1814, when the Palatinate was part of the French Republic (until 1804) and then part of the Napoleonic Empire , Trahweiler was incorporated into the Kusel canton . In 1815 the place Austria was added. Just one year later, the place changed to the Kingdom of Bavaria . From 1818 to 1862 the place was part of the Landkommissariat Kusel , which was then converted into a district office.

In 1939 the place was incorporated into the Kusel district. After the Second World War , Trahweiler became part of the then newly formed state of Rhineland-Palatinate within the French occupation zone . In the course of the first Rhineland-Palatinate administrative reform , the place was merged on June 7, 1969 with the neighboring Haschbach am Glan to form the new local community Henschtal .

Culture

With a side house on the Sangerhof, there is a total of one property on site that is under monument protection. The local cemetery is on the western edge of the settlement. There is also - also on the Sangerhof - the 15 meter high Sangerhof observation tower ; this is a former water tower from a closed viewing platform.

Infrastructure

District road 19 runs through Trahweiler and connects the town with Wahnwege , Konken and Haschbach.
