Transit was an indie rock / punk band from Boston , Massachusetts , formed in 2006 .

history

Transit was founded in 2006 in Boston , Massachusetts . The first full line-up of the band consisted of singer Joe Boynton, drummer Daniel Frazier, bassist PJ Jefferson, and the two guitarists Joseph Lacey and Tim Landers. Lacey was replaced by Torre Cioffi in 2011. Landers also left the group in August 2014.

Originally the group played a very emo-like sound. With the change of guitarist Lacey to Cioffi, influences of indie rock and pop music crept in .

In 2007, the group released an EP with Let It Out and a year later followed with This Will Not Define Us their debut album, which was released on Barrett Records . After the group switched to Run for Cover Records , three more works followed with the EPs Stay Home , Something Left Behind and the second album Keep This to Yourself . After the release of Something Left Behind , another label change followed. The band signed with Rise Records and released their third album, Listen & Forgive, and fourth album, Young New England , in 2011 and 2013 . This rose to number 193 in the official US album charts .

On August 18, 2014, the group's fifth album was announced. It's called Joyride and is slated to be released on October 21, 2014 through Rise Records. The band will also be playing a headlining tour with Such Gold through the United States and Canada in October . A tour with Four Year Strong follows in November . In the past the band played with Mayday Parade , We Are the In Crowd , Taking Back Sunday and Polar Bear Club .

On February 29, 2016, the group announced its dissolution. Guitarist Tim Landers passed away unexpectedly on the first weekend in February 2019.
