Gertraud "Traudl" Hächer-Gavet (born December 31, 1962 in Schleching ) is a former German ski racer .

biography

She achieved her first World Cup points (with an even higher starting number) in the first race of the season in 1980/81, the descent from Val-d'Isère on December 3, with rank 12; a few days later she proved her talent with rank 13 in the slalom of Piancavallo on December 13th. For the first time she came in 8th place in the downhill from Megève on January 28, 1981 in the top ten. Without ever having been on the podium before, she was victorious in the Super-G in Davos on December 8, 1984 , with start no. 54 started the race. She won two giant slaloms and two Super-G in the Ski World Cup , and made it into the top ten exactly forty times. With the season finale in Crans-Montana , she resigned on March 21, 1992. She got married during her skiing career in the late 1980s.

At the 1991 World Ski Championships in Saalbach-Hinterglemm , she won the bronze medal in the giant slalom, behind Pernilla Wiberg and Ulrike Maier . This made her the only German to win a medal at this world championship. This medal came as a bit of a surprise because it had never been in the top ten in this discipline for almost two years (last place 9 on March 4, 1989 in Furano ).

In 1986 she was German champion in giant slalom, at the beginning of her career she became junior European champion in giant slalom in 1979 .

Her father Hans Hächer also won two German championship titles (downhill and combined) in 1953.

Today Traudl Hächer-Gavet lives in America.
