Travis Cooper (born September 11, 1996 in Soldotna ) is an American biathlete.

Travis Cooper grew up in Kenai in the US state of Alaska and attended Kenai Central High School there. He competed in his first ski races in the seventh grade of middle school. During his four years in high school, he continued to compete in cross-country races and participated in three national junior cross-country championships. In his final year of high school, he joined the Alaskan National Guard and switched to biathlon.

Career

Travis Cooper contested his first international biathlon race at the 2016 Biathlon Junior World Championships in Cheile Grădiştei . By the end of the winter 2016/17 he also participated in the Biathlon Junior World Championships 2017 in Brezno - Osrblie , the Biathlon Junior Championships 2017 in Nove Mesto na Morave as well as two races of the IBU Junior Cup at Pokljuka -Hochebene in Slovenia in part . After not participating in any international races for one winter, he made his debut in the IBU Cup in Idre at the beginning of the 2018/19 season . He was then assigned to the World Cup team and competed in several races as part of the 2018/19 Biathlon World Cup in December and early January . The rest of the season he switched between IBU Cup and World Cup, at the IBU Cup races in Lenzerheide he reached eighth place in the single mixed relay together with Deedra Irwin and thus his first top 10 position in the IBU Cup. Shortly afterwards, he also took part in the 2019 European Biathlon Championships in Minsk. At the beginning of the 2019/20 season he took part in the races in Östersund and Hochfilzen , but only ever achieved one of the last places in the individual races. For the rest of the season he competed in races in the second-rate IBU Cup and the 2020 European Biathlon Championships in Minsk and was able to place within the points several times.
