Meet the young music scene

The meeting young music scene is a nationwide music competition for young people from 11 to 21 years. It has been held annually since 1984 and was initially held until 1991 under the title “Meetings of Young Songwriters”. In addition to the meeting of young authors , the Theatertreffen der Jugend and the Tanztreffen der Jugend, the competition is organized by the Berliner Festspiele on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research .

Course of the competition

All pieces that consist of language and music, i.e. sung or spoken texts with instrumental accompaniment or a cappella , are eligible for application . Music and lyrics have to be written by yourself. An independent jury of musicians and experts (David Erekul, Jarita Freydank, Dota Kehr , Annette Marquard , Alexander Riemenschneider, Marco Trochelmann, Volkan Türeli and Ulrich Zehfuß ) usually selects 10 bands and soloists. The tendering phase for the competition starts in March of each year and is announced on the Berliner Festspiele website. The selection process will be completed by the end of September.

Prices

The price of the competition is participation in the five-day meeting of the young music scene in Berlin. The selected musicians have access to a comprehensive program of workshops, individual coaching sessions and jam sessions are on offer and find a public concert of the winners in the Haus der Berliner Festspiele held the meeting Youth Music has the ability to bands and solo artists from among the candidates for the Propose popcamp .
