List of grape varieties

'Tressot' , also known as 'Tressot Noir' , is an autochthonous red wine variety from France, which is believed to come from the southwest .

ancestry

'Tressot Noir' has a parent-child relationship with ' Duras ' and ' Petit Verdot '. Who descends from whom is not yet clear.

In the literature, the 'Tressot' is often confused with the ' Trousseau ' variety . Although hardly grown, it is still one of the permitted varieties in the regional AOC Bourgogne , which is part of the Burgundy wine-growing region .

history

Written evidence of this variety can be traced back to the year 1394. In a letter from Charles VI. is reported by a winemaker in the Yonne, whose employees added inferior tréceaux to the high-quality pinoz ( i.e. ' Spätburgunder ') in order to enrich themselves.

The spelling of the time is also an indication of the etymology of the word. Since the word ceau in the Yonne denotes a vine, tréceaux translates as three vines . The name alludes to the profitability of the vine, which has about three times more than the Pinot Noir.

Ampelographic varietal characteristics

  • The shoot tip is open. It is densely hairy with white wool, with a slightly reddish tinge. The greenish-yellowish young leaves are lightly woolly hairy and spotted orange.
  • The medium-sized leaves are five-lobed and deeply indented. The stalk bay is closed lyren-shaped. The sheet is serrated to a point. The teeth are set in the middle compared to other grape varieties. The leaf surface (also called blade) is fine-bubble. In autumn the leaves turn almost completely red.
  • The cylindrical grape is medium-sized and has dense berries. The round berries are small and almost black in color. The berries have a medium-thick skin and a neutral aroma.

Maturity: The grape variety ripens around ten days after the ' Gutedel ' and is therefore still considered to ripen early. It sprouts quite late and thus escapes the late frosts. It is susceptible to powdery mildew and is difficult to graft onto rootstocks . After the phylloxera disaster at the end of the 19th century, their importance declined sharply.
