Life

Trevor R. Bowen, who published as a writer under TR Bowen and appeared as an actor under the name Trevor Bowen , spent much of his childhood in India and Egypt . In the course of his university education he briefly studied at the Winchester School of Art at the University of Southampton and then at the University of Cambridge . During his time at Cambridge he was primarily concerned with acting and became President of the Marlowe Society .

Trevor Bowen made his film debut in 1965 in John Schlesinger's film Darling . The role of "Tony Briggs" in the television series A Family at War (1970 to 1972) made him known to a wider audience. He starred in 1976 alongside Roy Dotrice in the Dickens of London series . In Thatcher : The Final Days (1991) he played Kenneth Baker . His most recent work from 2000 to 2007 includes participation in the popular television series Judge John Deed . He seldom had roles in movies, for example in contract with my killer ( I Hired a Contract Killer , 1990) by Aki Kaurismäki and in Greenfingers - Harte Jungs und Zarte Triebe ( Greenfingers , 2000).

Bowen also began writing screenplays for television series and films in the late 1970s . He made a name for himself above all as a specialist in crime thriller, in particular of works by Agatha Christie . He contributed the scripts for eight of the total of twelve films in the Miss Marple series with Joan Hickson , and he kept closely to the novel. In two of these BBC productions - Miss Marple: Karibische Affäre ( A Caribbean Mystery , 1989) and The Mirror Crack'd (1992) - he also played the role of Miss Marple's nephew Raymond West.

Bowen also worked on the Sherlock Holmes series with Jeremy Brett : He wrote six episodes as well as the full-length Der Hund von Baskerville ( The Hound of the Baskervilles , 1988) and appeared in one of the later episodes. This series was also known for realizing the templates of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle very faithfully. For his crime adaptations - including two works by Anne Perry and Frances Fyfeld - Bowen was nominated four times for the Edgar . He later also dramatized novels by Catherine Cookson for television screens .
