Trevor Ettinger (born July 13, 1980 in Truro , Nova Scotia ; † July 26, 2003 ) was a Canadian ice hockey player who has played for the Syracuse Crunch in the American Hockey League during his active career . Ettinger, of the role of enforcer filled, committed suicide in the summer of 2003 at the age of 23 years suicide .
Career
Ettinger first played from the 1997/98 season with the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles with play in the top junior league Ligue de hockey junior majeur du Québec . In the 1998 NHL Entry Draft , he was selected in the sixth round at a total of 159th position by the Edmonton Oilers . With the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles he filled the office of team captain in the 1999/2000 season . However, the season he played for league rivals Moncton Wildcats to the end. Ettinger ended his junior career in 2001 wearing the Cataractes de Shawinigan jersey . The defender spent his only two seasons at the men's level with the Dayton Bombers in the East Coast Hockey League and Syracuse Crunch in the American Hockey League .
Ettinger committed on 26 July 2003 at the age of 23 years suicide .
