Trio Corrente

The Trio Corrente is a Brazilian Latin jazz trio. It consists of the jazz musicians Fabio Torres ( piano ), Paulo Paulelli ( bass ) and Edu Ribeiro ( drums ).

The trio recorded their first album in 2005 with Corrente and became known in the Brazilian jazz scene and compared with well-known trios of the 1960s such as the Zimbo Trio and the Tamba Trio , from which it was influenced. Since 2009 the trio has worked with well-known musicians such as Stacey Kent , Joyce Moreno , Hamilton de Holanda , Leila Pinheiro , Mônica Salmaso , Anthony Wilson and Paquito D'Rivera . With Paquito D'Rivera, the show Trio Corrente invites Paquito D'Rivera took place in Fortaleza in 2010 , which was later repeated in Punta del Este in Uruguay , in Curitiba and in Spain .

On the album Song for Maura 2013 Paquito D'Rivera supported the trio; the album, on which works by Pixinguinha and K-Ximbinho are interpreted in addition to original compositions , received the Grammy Award for Best Latin Jazz Album in 2014.
