farfarello , formerly also Trio Farfarello , is a German acoustic rock band around the violinist Mani Neumann and the guitarist Ulli Brand, which was founded in 1982. The band's musical influences range from traditional Romanian music to progressive rock .
Members and guest musicians
In addition to Neumann and Brand, who still form the core today, the band was originally founded as a trio farfarello together with bassist Ecke Volk. Since his departure, other musicians have been playing as guest musicians at farfarello, as well as bassists, drummers and percussionists.
Charly T can be heard regularly as a drummer , who played for Köster / Hocker in 2005 , for The Lords in 2009 and for Chris Kramer in 2012 . The Dutch jazz percussionist Martin Verdonk also plays along again and again . In the past, the German bassist Dal Martino and the Indonesian percussionist Nippy Noya could be heard as guests of the band. In addition, from 1989 the band was supplemented for almost 20 years by the Schwelm guitarist, cellist and singer Stefan Wiesbrock .
The long-time guest bassist Joschi Kappl was awarded the MTV "Lifetime Award". Today, after a break, bassist Urs Fuchs is back with farfarello, who also recorded the ZeitZone CD in 2015 . At larger concerts there has been an extension since 2015 with a string trio consisting of violin, viola and cello.
collaboration
The British Chris Thompson played together with farfarello on the 1990 single Sea of Emotion. Farfarello produced the 2001 album Classics with the Neue Lausitzer Philharmonie . Together with the Quintetto Accento , farfarello recorded the CD Rendez Vous , released in 2004 on the Perleberg label .
The Cologne harpist Ulla van Daelen took part in the 1998 album farfarello & freunde .
farfarello has been supporting the light artist Jörg Rost musically for his performances for years . The Spanish percussionist José Cortijo supported the duo in the project “farfarello in the light” in March 2013 and is currently one of the regular players.

farfarello mainly plays in Germany, but has regular appearances all over Europe. In 2005 farfarello played at the Eurocityfest in Münster .
