Game modes

Grid bugs

The player looks at the character from a bird's eye view and has to find a way through the "grid bugs", spider-like, spontaneously multiplying beings. He must avoid touching the bugs by having the character destroy the bugs with a gun. The goal is to get to the center of a tower.

The grid bugs are from a short scene in the film.

MCP Cone

As with grid bugs , the player sees what's going on from a bird's eye view. The "MCP cone" ( English cone , in English " cone " or "cone") rotates from the upper edge of the screen towards the player figure, who can open blocks of holes in the cone with shots in order to finally cross the cone.

Light runner( Light Cycles )

Typical picture of a light runner game

The player considered an empty rectangular box - the game grid (or short [of] grid ) - from the top view , on which several so-called Lightcycles drive, which in the German translation (or synchronous -version ) of the film Tron light Renner called and who pull up walls of hard light (also called light walls ) behind them as they travel . The vehicles, which are reminiscent of motorcycles, can only change their direction of travel by a right angle - similar to the predecessor Snake . The player must now pull up walls with his own light baffle in such a way that all other light baffles are enclosed by them and have to hit the wall. The player must be careful not to hit a wall himself. He can control the direction and speed of the light choke.

This is the best known of the four games, which is often referred to as the entire Tron game. Several software clones exist of him , for example a clone with the title " Rasterbike " appeared on the Amiga in the early 1990s .

Tron 2.0 is a computer game by Monolith , based on the plot of the film from the 1980s. The 3D engine used is the so-called LithTech engine. The story of the game comes from Steven Lisberger , who also wrote the screenplay for the film. He himself calls Tron 2.0 the official successor to the film. The Windows version appeared in 2003, the Macintosh version in 2004. The Xbox and Game Boy Advance versions are called Tron 2.0 Killer App .

Gameplay

Although the game is primarily in the genre of first-person shooters , it also contains role-playing aspects and adventure elements such as puzzles and the principle of character development. In sections, the game also contains the so-called Lightspeeder race, a 3D variant of the original light wheel race.

The game is about the person Jet , who is completely digitized by the research computer of his missing father, a system called Ma3a , and then finds himself in a world populated by humanoid computer programs. The primary task is to protect the computer system from attacks by a virus . The plot builds directly on the events of the film from the 1980s and is about 20 years after the events of the time.

In the US version of the game, the voice of the character Alan Bradley is spoken by Bruce Boxleitner , who already played this role and that of the Tron program in the classic film Tron .
