Troy Edward Baker (born April 1, 1976 in Dallas , Texas ) is an American voice actor and musician , who is best known for the English-language dubbing of the main characters of many video games.

Life

Baker began his career producing radio commercials. His first voice acting role was an English adaptation of the anime series Detective Conan . He then dubbed other anime series such as Bleach , Dragon Ball Z , Fullmetal Alchemist , Naruto , Naruto: Shippuden and One Piece . He dubbed roles from the Marvel Universe , including several characters in The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes , Hawkeye and Loki in Ultimate Spider-Man and Avengers Assemble .

He had his first dubbing role in a video game as Matthew Baker in the video game series Brothers in Arms . He gained particular fame through the role of Booker DeWitt in BioShock Infinite and as Joel in Naughty Dogs The Last of Us in 2013. Both games were commercially successful and received mostly positive reviews. He was nominated for Best Voice Actor at the 2013 Spike Video Game Awards for both roles and ultimately received the award for the role as Joel in The Last of Us . Other roles were Joker in Batman: Arkham Origins and Batman: Assault on Arkham , Two-Face in Batman: Arkham City and Batman: Arkham Knight , Rhys in Tales from the borderlands , Jack Mitchell in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare , Snow in Final Fantasy XIII , Revolver "Shalashaska" Ocelot in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain , Pagan Min in Far Cry 4 , Sam Drake in Uncharted 4: A Thief's End and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy , and Higgs in Death Stranding . He also set music to the protagonist in Saints Row: The Third and Saints Row IV .

Before working as a voice actor, he was the lead vocalist for the indie rock band Tripp Fontaine. He released his first solo album, Sitting in the Fire , in 2014.

Baker lives in Los Angeles with his wife Pamela Walworth.
