Chernomorets (also written Chernomorez or Chernomorets , Bulgarian Черноморец ) is a small town in the municipality of Sozopol , Burgas Province on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast . The city lies on several small rocky peninsulas between the bays of Vromos and Sozopol in the southern part of the Gulf of Burgas . Until 1951 the city was called Sweti Nikola (to German Saint Nikola).
Sozopol is around 8 km south of Chernomorets and the provincial capital Burgas around 30 km north (see map below). Both are easily accessible via the four-lane Burgas-Sosopol highway. Bus connections to the two cities run every hour in both directions from the bus station (Awtogara) and are operated by Sozopolbus and Burgasbus .
