The Technical University of Tshwane ( English Tshwane University of Technology , Afrikaans Tshwane Universiteit van Tegnologie ), TUT for short , is a university in Pretoria . It was founded on January 1st, 2004 by merging its predecessor institutions Technikon Northern Gauteng , Technikon North-West and Technikon Pretoria .

The university is headed by a Vice Chancellor and Rector (Principal), the management also includes four Deputy Vice Chancellors, Executive Deans , a Director for Marketing and Corporate Affairs and a CFO . Management is responsible to the University Council, which together with the Senate determines the guidelines and is responsible for financial planning and academic affairs.
