The aim of the festival was to promote the initiative of committed citizens. These should contribute to strengthening social cohesion and improving the social participation of disadvantaged groups.

Idea and goals

The European Year for Combating Poverty and Social Exclusion 2010 was the occasion for the theologian and philosopher Clemens Sedmak to realize his project idea "Regions of lived humanity": Behind do something, then something happens. The aim is to support committed people financially, in terms of content and organization in the implementation of small project ideas that increase the quality of life in their respective communities and regions .

Financed by Austrian private foundations , the Sinnstiftern, people and institutions are supported in the implementation of projects for a better coexistence. In the long term, these impulses are intended to strengthen social cohesion, social structures and regional economic cycles. Further goals are the identification with the homeland, a coexistence of the generations and improved inclusion of socially disadvantaged people.

Lived through numerous events, get-togethers and workshops, the term “social festival” unites several for do something, then something happens. typical aspects: enjoying the community, working together for a good cause and the opportunity to help shape society .
