Tunisair Express ( Arabic الخطوط التونسية السريعة, originally Tuninter , later Sevenair ) is a Tunisian airline based in Tunis and based at Tunis Airport . It is a subsidiary of Tunisair .
history
It was founded on August 1, 1991 as a regional airline under the name Tuninter . At the request of then-President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali was renamed to Sevenair , due to the number seven on the basis of his coming to power on November 7, 1987 symbolically on 7 July 2007. After the Tunisian revolution , the airline was renamed again and since then known as the Tunisair Express .
At the end of 2015 it was announced that Tunisair Express would be merged with the parent company Tunisair.
Destinations
Tunisair Express mainly flies to national destinations from Tunis . In addition, Malta , Naples and Palermo are served as international destinations . There are also charter flights.

Incidents
- On August 6, 2005, an ATR 72-200 with the aircraft registration TS-LBB had to make an emergency landing on Tuninter flight 1153 on the way from Bari to Djerba off Sicily due to a lack of fuel. 16 people were killed. The cause of the fuel shortage was a tank level indicator installed the day before, which was unsuitable for this type of aircraft.
