The Tunisian Dinar , in Tunisia D or DT ( Dinar Tunisien ), Arabic دينار تونسي Dīnār tūnisī is the currency of Tunisia .

It is a thousand currency, i.e. 1 dinar is in 1000 millimes ( Arabic ملّيم Millim ) divided abbreviatedM. In popular parlance, the Millimes are called "Franc" after the previous currency. Prices for everyday objects are often marked in millimes and are also designated as such. The exchange rate is regulated by the state and is the same everywhere.

Currently there are banknotes of 50, 30 (not available in normal circulation), 20, 10 and 5 dinars and coins in denominations of 5, 2, 1 and 1/2 dinars as well as 200, 100, 50, 20, 10, 5 , 2 and 1 millimes.

On October 18, 1958, the dinar became the currency of Tunisia. The previous currency, the franc , was exchanged at the rate of 1000 francs = 1 dinar.

The currency is not freely convertible and may not be imported or exported.
