Kelsterbacher Spange tunnel
The Kelsterbacher Spange Tunnel (also: Tunnel Kelsterbach , Kelsterbacher-Spange-Tunnel ) is a 994 m long tunnel on the high-speed line Cologne – Rhine / Main . It crosses under the Kelsterbach crossbar of federal highway 43 with the Kelsterbach junction of federal highway 3 and therefore bears his name.
The tunnel takes on two tracks in slab track .
course
The tube runs immediately to the north, parallel to the federal motorway 3 in a south-westerly direction.
The northeast portal is at route kilometer 168.1 ( 50 ° 2 ′ 58.5 ″ N , 8 ° 33 ′ 13.3 ″ E ), the southwest portal is at 167.1 ( 50 ° 2 ′ 45.7 ″ N , 8 ° 32 '27.5 " E ).
Trough structures are attached to both sides . The gradient of the route slopes down from both sides towards the middle. In the middle (at 50 ° 2 '53 " N , 8 ° 32' 50" E ) is a short light hole.
The entrance signals for the Frankfurt airport long-distance train station are located at the northeast portal . In this area, the slab track of the high-speed line merges into the conventional ballast superstructure of the airport long-distance train station. Not far from the portal, the high-speed line crosses the airport S-Bahn leading to the airport regional train station .
The minimum radius of the track system in this section is 1700 m, with a design speed of 220 km / h.
history
planning
The planned length of the structure was already 995 m at the end of 1995, as was the case at the end of 1997.

The tube was built using an open construction method.
The tunnel is located in the five-kilometer plan approval section 35 of the route. A Rheda slab track was installed between September and November 1998 .
