The Breckenheim tunnel is a 1,150 m long tunnel on the high-speed Cologne – Rhine / Main line . It runs near Wiesbaden-Breckenheim and therefore bears his name.
The structure accommodates two tracks that can be driven on as planned at 300 km / h.
Location and course
The Breckenheim junction is located south of the Breckenheim tunnel . At this branch threaded through the wanderer-North and Wandersmann south tunnel the railway line to Wiesbaden height freely out of the high-speed line Cologne-Rhine / Main.
In front of the north portal ( route km 151.4) of the Breckenheim tunnel is a trough structure around 400 m long . Further north of this, after a section with open-cut tracks, the Schulwaldtunnel is the longest tunnel on the entire high-speed line Cologne-Rhine / Main.
The route runs south in the tunnel in a left curve; the gradient first drops and then rises towards the south portal.
The tunnel structure passes under Landstrasse 3039 ( Heilgasse ), a farm road and the L 3017.
Breckenheim underpass structure
Both south of the Breckenheim tunnel and south of the branch of the same name to Wiesbaden, the Breckenheim underpass structure joins the high-speed route Cologne – Rhine / Main south at km 153.8. The railway line passes under Diedenberger Straße from Wallau to Breckenheim. The underpass is not in itself a tunnel.
history
At the end of 1995, the planned length of the structure was 1150 m.
The tunnel is equipped with a slab track of the Rheda-Dywidag type.
Due to an overlap of only 0.5 to 5 m, the tube was completely built using an open construction method.
