The Ammerichtunnel is a 755 m long railway tunnel on the high-speed line Cologne – Rhine / Main . It crosses under the Ammerich district of the Rhineland-Palatinate community of Neustadt (Wied) and therefore bears his name.

course

The north portal is at  53.0 km , the south portal at 53.8. The route runs in the tunnel in a southerly direction in a right curve. The gradient rises. The structure crosses under the federal motorway 3 , among other things .

After about 100 meters, the remote control tunnel joins it to the south . Together with this, the tunnel shares a rescue area. To the north, after an earthwork section, the Wiedtalbrücke follows .

The tunnel cover is up to around 25 meters.

history

planning

At the end of 1995, the planned length of the structure was 720 m, as was the case in 1998. In mid-1999, the structure was already planned with the length of 755 m, which was realized later.

construction

Together with the neighboring Fernthal Tunnel was the building in early 1999 solemnly struck . The sponsorship took it Elke Strong, the 2nd District Councilor of the district Neuwied .

Installation

The tunnel went into operation together with the new line in 2002.
