Tusq is an indie rock band from Hamburg and Berlin .

history

Tusq were founded in Hamburg in 2009 by (partly former) members of D-Sailors , The Coalfield, Herrenmagazin and Schrott Border . The band is based on the models The Soundtrack of Our Lives or Motorpsycho in their poppy phases and offer melancholic guitar rock that reaches into hymns. An intensive examination of the Phil Collins of the early 80s can also be seen. Her debut album Patience Camp , recorded with producer Jürgen Hendlmeier in Finland , was released in October 2010 via Strange Ways with the support of Initiative Musik .

The band tours extensively at home and abroad, among other things as support for Kashmir , Teenage Fanclub , The Hold Steady and The Soundtrack of Our Lives. There are also festival appearances in Germany (including Rolling Stone Weekender, Hurricane , Highfield , Area4 ) and international tours in Russia , Brazil , Argentina and England .

After the three-week South America tour in autumn 2011, bassist Paul Konopacka left the band for personal reasons. With his successor Florian Gelling, Tusq recorded their second album in March 2012 on the Finnish island of Hailuoto . Like Patience Camp , the album was produced by Jürgen Hendlmeier. It was released in January 2013 via Strange Ways.

In August 2017, the band announced that drummer Holger Lüken and bassist Florian Gelling had left the band and had been replaced by Matthias Frank (drums) and Michael Schlücker (bass). At the same time a third studio album was announced.
