Twenty20 Cup 2003
The 2003 Twenty20 Cup was the first season of the English Twenty20 Championship. The winners were the Surrey Lions , who beat the Warwickshire Bears in the final in Trent Bridge with 9 wickets .
format
The 18 first-class counties were divided into three groups of six teams each according to regional criteria. In this group stage, each team in a group played once against each other. After this, the group winners and the best runner-up in the group qualified for the semi-finals. This was held on one day in Trent Bridge together with the final, marketed as Finals Day .
