The Twins Quartet is a Russian string quartet founded in Moscow in 1998 .

history

The Twins Quartet was founded in 1998 at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory under Professor Alexandr Galkovsky ( Shostakovich Quartet) and has played with the same cast since then.

The quartet took part in the 10th to 12th Summer Academy of the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna , where there were masterclasses with Günter Pichler ( Alban Berg Quartet ), Norbert Brainin and Siegmund Nissel ( Amadeus Quartet ), Rainer Schmidt ( Hagen Quartet) ), Sandor Devich and Laszlo Mezö ( Bartók Quartet ) and Milan Škampa ( Smetana Quartet ).

The Twins Quartet received a scholarship from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and studied with the Alban Berg Quartet in Cologne.

2000 Performance of the quartet at the "Days of Russian Culture" as part of the EXPO 2000 .

In 2001 a Japan tour took place with the pianist Alexej Lubimov . Further appearances at international festivals such as: Moscow Autumn, Haydn Festival, Schönberg Festival, Weingarten Music Festival, Mendelssohn Festival, Harzburg Music Days , May Festival Rellinger Church , Andernacher Music Days at Namedy Castle, Berleburg Castle Music Festival .

The Twins Quartet plays with Tatjana and David Geringas , Sergio Zampetti, Karl Leister , Irina Schnittke, Marc Grauwels , Vladimir Mendelssohn, Jörg Demus , Vassily Lobanov , Peter Lang , as well as with Luz Leskowitz and his Salzburg soloists, among others .

The quartet has been a permanent guest at the Salzburg Palace Concerts since 2003 .

  • 2001 - Winner of the international Shostakovich string quartet competition
  • 2001 - Béla Bartók Prize
  • 2002 - Finalist in the Osaka competition
  • 2002 - Alban Berg Prize
  • 2003 - Prize winner of the Schubert competition, Graz
