The Type 100 Beobachtungspanzer Te-Re ( Jap. 一〇〇式観測挺進車 , Hyaku-shiki kansoku teishinsha ) was a Japanese tank for forward observers of the artillery in World War II . It was put into service in 1940 ( Kōki 2600, hence the type designation) and used by the Imperial Japanese Army until 1945 .

history

Based on the chassis of the Type 97 Te-Ke , an armored vehicle was manufactured for the Imperial Japanese Army in 1940, which equipped advanced observers (VB) of the artillery with an all-terrain vehicle. The Type 100 could accommodate a crew of six and equipment for the VB. A cable reel was attached to the rear of the vehicle in order to be able to lay telephone wire. In addition, the voluminous Type 94 radio was housed in the rear interior, which was open at the top . An optical rangefinder was installed on top of the structure.

150 copies of the Type 100 were made, which were in service until the end of the war, mainly in the theater of war in China .
