The Type 98 Ta-Se ( Japanese 試製 対 空 戦 車 タ セ , Shisei taikū sensha Ta-Se , Eng . "Prototype anti-aircraft tank Ta-Se") was a prototype of a Japanese anti-aircraft tank that was tested in 1941 by the Imperial Japanese Army .
history
In 1941 the Imperial Japanese Army started the development of an anti-aircraft tank. The first prototype was completed in November 1941 and was named Ta-Se . It used the chassis of the light tank Type 98 Ke-Ni (hence Type 98 Ta-Se ) and was armed with a 20 mm automatic cannon, which was a converted 20 mm anti-aircraft automatic cannon type 98 . Since the substructure for the automatic cannon did not offer enough space for the crew and the stability when turning the tower was too low, the development was discontinued. Subsequently, a modified prototype with a 20-mm twin automatic cannon was designed, which used two 20-mm anti-aircraft type 2 automatic cannons . The development of this version was also stopped.
