life and career

Yüce showed great interest in painting as a child. His first professional work at the age of 18 was the design of a factory wall, which he decorated with four-meter-high myth frescoes in about four months. After graduating from school, he completed the entrance exams for the Güzel Sanatlar Akademisi (German: "School of Fine Arts") in Istanbul (today Mimar Sinan Üniversitesi ), which he passed in the fields of painting, sculpture and decoration. Finally, he decided to focus on decoration and enrolled in the stage and visual arts department two years later. There he received extensive training in literature, history, classical music, costume and decor design. He completed his studies as a theater decorator with honors. 1973 to 1975, during his studies, he drew the comic novel Aybike for the Turkish daily Hürriyet .

After graduating, he did his military service and then returned to Istanbul, where he opened an office with painter friends and began designing book covers. In 1978, Yüce created the title poster and the opening credits for the internationally award-winning film Sürü - Die Herd on behalf of the actor and screenwriter Yilmaz Güney . According to Yüce's own statements, the title of the film goes back to a suggestion by him, so Güney's original working title was Berivan ile Şivan (German: Berivan and Sivan , names of the main characters).

In 1980 Yüce came to Germany and was entrusted with the design of the magazine covers for various comic and novel series by Bastei Verlag. Over a period of 20 years, Yüce created around 2000 cover motifs, more than 1200 of which were for the series of ghost stories , but also Tony Ballard , Professor Zamorra and Damona King . Some of these images were also reused for corresponding radio play versions in the Geister-Schocker radio play series .

In addition to his work for Bastei, he created numerous cover images for the role-playing series Das Schwarze Auge , for whose optical and artistic appearance he is considered to be formative. From 1986 onwards he designed more than 100 pictures over a period of ten years. In addition to the print covers, he was also responsible for the cover design of the DSA computer games of the Nordland trilogy by Attic . The cover of Attics Der Druidenzirkel also comes from Yüce. He also designed the pack motifs for the board games Atlantis and Drachenhort by Schmidt Spiele and Nibelungen by Amigo .

In 2012, Yüce was hired by the German computer game developer Silver Style Studios to design some artwork for the browser game Das Schwarze Auge: Herokon Online .
