The Kobalt 400 is a car race in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series and takes place at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in Las Vegas , Nevada .
In May 2007 it was announced that UAW-DaimlerChrysler would no longer act as the main sponsor of the race as of the following season due to Chrysler's separation from the company. After it was announced on August 2, 2007 that the Corona México 200 2008 will be removed from the Nationwide Series racing calendar , the race will take place again on the original date. In addition, Dodge appeared as the new main sponsor from the 2008 season . In the 2009 season , the race was called Shelby 427. At the same time, the race distance was extended from 267 laps (400 miles / 644 km) to 285 laps (427.5 miles / 704 km) based on one of the sponsor's sports car names, the 427 Cobra .
