The UAZ Patriot ( Russian УАЗ Патриот , due to standardized type designations also UAZ-3163 , Russian УАЗ-3163) is an off-road vehicle made by the Russian automobile manufacturer UAZ , short for Ulyanovsky Avtomobilny Savod . Variants with a commercial vehicle body are also marketed as UAZ Pickup and UAZ Cargo (Russian УАЗ Пикап and УАЗ Карго).

history

The vehicle was presented at the Moscow International Motor Show in 2005 and has since been sold successfully in Russia and other Eastern European countries as the successor to the UAZ Simbir . Between 2007 and 2012, the off-road vehicle was also exported to Germany under the name Baijah Tulos at prices from 22,900 euros.

On the occasion of the manufacturer's 70th anniversary , a limited special model of the Patriot was sold in 2012.

Between 2012 and 2014 the off-road vehicle was technically enhanced.

The Patriot received its first visual makeover in 2014. For the 2017 model year, the SUV received airbags and ESP .

The UAZ Patriot was temporarily also available with Iveco F1A diesel engines . The reason was that Sollers , the parent company of Ulyanovsky Awtomobilny Sawods, had entered into a cooperation with the Fiat group (to which IVECO belonged) and also built the Fiat Ducato for the Russian market . After the cooperation ended in 2012, no more engines were delivered. Accordingly, a Russian diesel engine of the type ZMZ-514 from the Sawolschski Motorny Sawod was used from 2012 . The engine plant from the town of Savolschje also belongs to the parent company Sollers and also supplies the gasoline engines for the UAZ Patriot. However, the engine always had reliability problems and has now been removed from the offer without replacement.

The UAZ Patriot , Russian УАЗ Патриот , also called the "ordinary UAZ Patriot" to distinguish it, is the standard model as a five-door station wagon. It is available in a total of seven equipment variants. The variant called “standard” is also a few millimeters smaller in terms of its external dimensions. The other versions include a special edition related to the computer game World of Tanks . Only four of the seven trim levels are offered for commercial purposes.
The UAZ Pickup , Russian designated УАЗ Пикап, to distinguish it as "ordinary pickup" is a version with double cabin and molded and painted in the body color cargo area. The model can carry a payload of 725 kg, has a wheelbase of 3000 mm and a permissible total weight of 2860 kg. As of 2017, like all other models, it is only available with a 2.7-liter ZMZ-40906 gasoline engine that develops 134.6 hp (99 kW).
Under the name UAZ Cargo , Russian УАЗ Карго, a model with a simple, rectangular steel platform and tarpaulin is offered. All models with this name are only built with a short cab. Here too, the payload is 725 kg, the engine is the same as in all models. Since the curb weight of 2050 kg is slightly lower than that of the UAZ pickup, the permissible total weight is only 2775 kg.

Two models with a box body are also offered as UAZ Cargo . One body is an isothermal case for transporting food and the other variant is a model with a body without cooling.

The vehicle is also used as a police vehicle in Russia.

Under the designation UAZ 3163-103, the vehicle is in service in the Russian army. On the basis of the cargo version, various types of weapons can be mounted on the loading area, including machine guns with a caliber of 7.62 and 12.7 mm , grenade launchers and mortars with a caliber of u. a. 82 mm.

Technical specifications

In 2012, UAZ replaced the diesel engine with a new 2.2-liter engine. In 2016 it was withdrawn from the market without replacement.
