Uaguia ( Uaigia , Uagia ) is an East Timorese place and Suco in the administrative office of Ossu ( municipality of Viqueque ).

Uaguia is east of the center of the Ossu Administrative Office. With the 2015 territorial reform, the Suco surrendered large parts of its territory east of the Cuha River to the Suco Ossorua , including the villages of Dasarai , Raimuti Uatumanutuco and Uaitutumata . For this, the place Muami came from the Suco Ossu de Cima to Uaguia, together with an area west of the Cuhas to the tributary Calmalulo . The area of Uaguia shrank from 18.20 km². on 7.51 km².

The western border now forms the Suco Ossu de Cima, to the north is the Suco Uabubo and in the southwest Ossorua. On the banks of the Cuha are the villages of Luhabere and Dolibuti ( Dulibuti , Doli Puti ). There is a primary school here.

Despite the reduction in sucos in 2015, all six aldeias stayed with Uaguia. These are: Dasarai ( Dassarai ), Dolibuti , Luhabere , Manulari , Uaitutumata and Uatumanutuco .

Residents

In 2015 there were 1153 people living in Suco, 561 of whom are men and 592 women. The population density is 153.5 inhabitants / km². There are 241 households in the Suco. Over 99% of the population name Makasae as their mother tongue. Only small minorities speak Tetum Terik or Sa'ane .

history

In 1976 Gaspar Reis , the Liurai of Uaguia, and his people left the refugee camp that was under the control of FRETILIN and surrendered to the Indonesian invaders in Ossu .

politics

In the elections of 2004/2005 was Aquelis Ximenes Guterres elected Chefe de Suco and in 2009 re-elected.
