Udo Frank

Udo Frank (* 1953 in Duisburg ) is a German television journalist and book author .

Life

After graduating from high school, Udo Frank studied political science , pedagogy , German studies and philosophy at the Duisburg Max Planck Grammar School at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn . He passed the second state examination for the higher teaching post . After studying Frank participated as a freelancer of Südwestfunks to his journalistic activities (SWF) in the country club Mainz. He worked as a TV reporter and editor for the SWF regional studio and the political magazines NDR-Panorama , WDR-Monitor and SWF Report-Baden-Baden . After completing his traineeship at SWF, Frank was employed for several years as a domestic correspondent for the ARD-Aktuell news desk, which is responsible for the daily news and daily topics . Then he changed to the REPORT BADEN-BADEN editorial team . From April 1993 he worked for the ZDF magazine FRONTAL . Until April 2019, Frank worked as an editor in the documentation department ZDF: zeit . Since then he has been managing director and partner of the film production "FF Framework - TV & Media GmbH" together with Rainer Fromm.

Frank's journalistic focus is on the pharmaceutical industry, arms and drug trafficking , people smuggling and right-wing extremism . By reporting on the " Schneider story ", Frank contributed to the clarification of the largest German building scandal in post-war history. As part of his research, Frank's cell phone was tapped by the investigative authorities for two years. The authorities hoped to get to Schneider's whereabouts in this way.

Activity abroad

Frank worked as a ZDF correspondent in the Tel Aviv studio. Here he researched the activity of the Russian Mafia in Israel. During the Kosovo war he worked as a correspondent for ZDF.
