Udo Sautter

Udo Sautter (born June 17, 1934 in Wiesbaden ; † September 25, 2019 ) was a German historian , university lecturer and non-fiction author .

Career

After completing a commercial apprenticeship, Sautter studied history and modern languages ​​at the universities of Tübingen , Grenoble , Paris and Florence from 1955 to 1962 ; 1959/60 he worked as a German assistant at a Paris high school. 1961 Sautter with a thesis on the French regionalism at the University of Tübingen Dr. phil. PhD. In 1962 and 1964 he passed the 1st and 2nd state exams and taught in higher education in Stuttgart and Ulm .

From 1966 he lived in Canada and worked as assistant professor at Loyola College , Concordia University and McGill University in Montreal . From 1969 to 1996 he taught (first as Assistant Professor, since 1976 as Full Professor) at the University of Windsor , Ontario, recent European and North American history. From 1996 to 2003 he taught North American history as a professor at the University of Tübingen.

In 2003 he retired.
